Puppy Training

One-to-one puppy training in Navan and surrounding areas, focused on helping you understand normal puppy behaviour and build useful habits from the beginning.

What puppy training can help with

  • Puppy biting, nipping and chewing
  • Toilet training and home routines
  • Calm behaviour and settling
  • Early lead walking and attention
  • Recall foundations
  • Safe, sensible socialisation and exposure
  • Jumping up and everyday manners
  • Handling, grooming and cooperative care foundations

How the training works

Sessions are individual and built around your puppy, your home and your routine. The first meeting is used to understand what is happening, answer your questions and decide what needs attention first. Later sessions can move outdoors to work on lead skills, exposure, attention and practical obedience foundations.

Puppy biting and over-arousal

Biting and mouthing are normal parts of puppy development, but that does not mean you have to simply put up with painful or chaotic behaviour. We look at the reason behind the biting — play, teething, over-arousal, frustration or tiredness — and then build a practical plan around sleep, management, appropriate play, calm interruptions and alternative behaviour.

Socialisation without creating more problems

Good socialisation is not about allowing a puppy to meet every person and dog. It is about helping the puppy learn that people, dogs, traffic, sounds, surfaces and new environments can be observed and experienced safely.

What you will need to do between sessions

Your progress depends on what happens between lessons. I can show you the direction, demonstrate the exercises and help you adjust the plan, but the puppy learns through consistent practice at home and on normal walks.

Frequently asked questions

When should puppy training start?

Training can start as soon as your puppy is settling into the home. Early guidance is often useful because it helps prevent unwanted habits from becoming established.

Do you offer group puppy classes?

DogBase focuses on individual one-to-one sessions so the training can be tailored to your puppy and your household.

Can you help with toilet training?

Yes. We can review routine, management, supervision and reinforcement so you have a practical plan to follow.

Can you stop puppy biting completely?

Puppy biting is a normal developmental behaviour, so the goal is not an unrealistic instant stop. The goal is to reduce rehearsal, manage arousal and teach better alternatives.
